The last few posts have been about my dolls so I thought it was time to show some from my collection that other people have made. I thought I would have a bit of a theme and have chosen ‘Upstairs, downstairs’, so I guess we can start with downstairs and the servants…
Next post we will show some of the kitchen staff…
I’m usually a planner, but this little peg came quite out of the blue. I did have other intentions for how she was going to come out, but she took on a life of her own.
I decided, for a change, not to add a face and let her attire say who she might be.
The bodice is just a folded strip of fabric wrapped around the peg and secured at the back. The dress is a tube gathered around the middle (gathered on the fold to make it puff out) with a lace underskirt made in the same way. Her hair is a handmade cord wrapped around her head with a felt and feather hat. I stuck two beads on for hands and wrapped a length of fabric around her arms as a shawl. She is finished with an organza ribbon tied around her waist.
